Stevie discovered hairdressing at just 16, the perfect profession to express her punk-rock aesthetic at the time. After cultivating her technical prowess with Atlanta’s top stylists ,she moved to Chicago in 1994 joining a top salon and worked her way up to Art Director. She helped develop the innovative curriculum for the in-house ap-prenticeship program as well as a continuing education program for Illinois licensed hairdressers. In late 2012 she opened Smith & Davis Salon which quickly gained notoriety as one of the top salons in Chicago by Time Out , Chicago Magazine ,CS Modern Luxury, The Chicagoist and named Top 100 in America, by Elle Magazine.
As a highly regarded stylist, she is that rare hairdresser who excels at Color, Cut and styling, and her repertoire ranges from the classic to the avant-garde. She was named Best Colorist for Redheads in Chicago Social maga-zine ,Updo Guru by Refinery 29 and was the winner of the Wella Color With Innosense Competition as well as the Winner of Wella Education Instagram Takeover. Her work has been featured by Allure, Estetica, Chicago So-cial, Modern Luxury, Chicago Bride, Martha Stewart Weddings, Industry, Hairbrained & Elevate. She has styled actors, dancers, and models in a wide range of venues, including theatre, television, movies, beauty blogs, fashion shoots, Wella TrendVision, Cannes Film Fest and NYFW. Now she's working both sides of the camera, as stylist and photographer. As mentor and perpetual student, Stevie has worked tirelessly to develop her talents through workshops, classes, earning a certification as a Wella Master Colorist and being selected as a member of the “Wella Cut Craft Team”. In addition, she travels the country educating in salons as a member of the “Wella Design Team”. For Stevie, hairdressing it is not a mere profession, it's her passion and joy!
